Mrs. Anders was born Sept. 16, 1922 in Ammannsville to William and Marcella (Bohac) Tumis. In 1946, she married Edgar Anders in Ammannsville. She was a homemaker and worked the farm. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americans, KJZT and affiliated with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mrs. Anders is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Citzler and husband Atlan Jr. of Pflugerville; three grandchildren, Amy Caby, Byron Citzler and Edward Citzler and wife Robin. She is also survived by brothers, John Tumis and wife Livia of Schulenburg, Allen Tumis and wife Valeria of Houston, and Albert Tumis and wife Pearlie of LaGrange; one sister, Josie Kristek and husband Daniel of Katy; one sister-in-law, Anita Tumis of Hallettsville. Anders, Al J.Al Anders Funeral Services Held Dec. 27Al J. Anders, 87, of Weimar, passed away on Dec. 22 at DeTar Hospital in Victoria due to heart failure. Funeral services were held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. Celebrating the Memorial Mass was Rev. John Bily. Interment followed in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Mr Anders was born on March 8, 1914 in Dubina to Ludwig Anders and Katherine Kaluza. He married Evelyn Knebel on Nov. 25, 1946 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. Mr. Anders attended Dubina Parochial School and Weimar High School. He served honorably as Staff Sergeant in World War II in the 744th Tank Battalion in the European Theatre. He was discharged in November 1945. He was employed by Mobil Oil from 1946 until his retirement in 1976. During his career with Mobil, the family lived in Mirando City, Texas from 1946 until 1956. They were then transferred to Pasadena and lived there until 1966 when they returned to Weimar. Mr. Anders worked at the Sheridan plant until he retired. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Society, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Weimar EMS and a charter member of the Heritgage Society Museum. Mr. Anders loved to help others. He was always available to drive others when they needed to visit their out-of-town doctors. He always enjoyed volunteering to call bingo at Parkview Manor Nursing Center. He is survived by a loving and devoted family. Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Evelyn; daughter Janelle and husband Anthony Conzentino of Katy and granddaughter Lindsay of San Marcos. He is also survived by his sister, Viola Demel of Dubina; his sisters-in-law, Elsie Anders of Crowley and Tillie Anders of Houston; brother-in-law, Harry Knebel Jr. as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Anders was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Julius Bartek, E.M. Cook, Ben DeGeorge, Harry Knebel Jr., Robert Koenig and Steve Svetlik. Anders, 75, who succumbed at Youens Hospital early Wednesday morning, will be held from Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Church tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9:30 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Mrs. Anders had been taken to the hospital late Tuesday afternoon after suffering a heart stroke. She had been a semi-invalid since an earlier stroke, 11 years ago. Born Annie Schilhab May 1, 1877, in Moravia, Austria, she was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Schilhab, who brought her to this country as a 3-year-old child They settled in the High Hill vicinity and later moved to the rural area west of Weimar. She was married to Mr. Anders January 25, 1900, at St. Michael’s Church here, and since that time had lived in Weimar. Mrs. Anders was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Society. Anders, Arthur JohnArthur Anders Funeral Services Held Dec. 29Arthur John Anders of Longview passed away on Dec. 26, 2001 in Longview. Services were held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 with his brother, Monsignor Arnold Anders, officiating. Entombment followed in Memory Park Mausoleum in Longview. Mr. Anders was born Jan. 20, 1920 to Frank H. and Annie Guenther Anders in Dubina. He was a World War II Battle of the Bulge veteran in the 84th infantry Railsplitters Division. Mr. Anders had been employed by Exxon in Baytown for 29 years, living there during that time. He had also worked for Borden’s Milk Company in San Antonio. Mr. Anders had been a member of the Baytown Volunteer Fire Department, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans Association and the American Legion. He had received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster medals. Mr. Anders was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Anders Hartensteiner. He is survived by his wife, Sophie Christen Anders; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette Anders Ross and Joel Ross; two granddaughters, Phedra Ross Elliott and her husband Matthew Elliott and Kirin Nicole Ross. He is also survived by three brothers, Monsignor Arnold Anders of Corpus Christi, Frank Anders and wife Leona Christen Anders and John Anders and wife Adela Pesl Anders of Rosenberg; and his sister Leona Garza of San Antonio. Father Gregory O’Connor officiated. Mrs. Anders, a lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday morning, Jan. 19, at Colorado-Fayette Medical Center. Born here Oct. 25, 1888, she was a daughter of Joseph and Maria (Schilhab) Kasper. She was married in 1912 to Joe Dittrich, who died in 1913. Later she married Fred Anders, who died Feb. 12, 1928. Mrs. Anders was a member of St. Michael’s Church and St. Ann’s Society. Surviving are three sons, Eddie and Charlie Anders of Weimar and Freddie Anders of Wharton; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Beck of San Antonio. Born Aug. 17, 1920 in Weimar, he was a son of Ferdinand and Bertha (Kasper) Anders. He married Leona Knebel here on June 15, 1943. His occupation for many years was in floor covering, and later he worked at Utex Industries until retiring in 1986. He was a member and usher of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Weimar Volunteer Fire Department, and St. Joseph Society. His wife survives him, along with two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Howard Mead of Houston and Carol and Jack Scharnberg of Houston; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Anders of Schulenburg; five grandchildren, Charles and Virgil Mead of Houston, Bryan and Todd Anders of Schulenburg, and Lauren Scharnberg of Houston; and one brother, Edwin F. Anders of Weimar. A brother, Freddie Anders, a half sister, Dorothy Drank, and a step-sister, Florence Anders, preceded him in death. Eddie was born May 9, 1917 in Ammannsville to Joe and Mary (Sassin) Anders. He attended school through the fifth grade. Mr. Anders began serving in the U.S. Army in 1942 during World War II. He spent 19 months in Africa, 14 months in Italy and discharged in 1945. Eddie married Georgia (Kuchar) Anders on June 28,1948 in Weimar. Mr. Anders was employed by Better Beverages in Weimar and Hallettsville, and was a member of the KC and Veterans organizations. He lived in Weimar all his life. He is survived by his sons, Garrett Anders of Weimar, Leonard Anders of Spring, and Allan Anders of Katy; and daughter, Darlene Bludau of Hallettsville. Anders, Edgar F. "Smiles"Edgar F. Anders Funeral Services Held March 21Funeral services for Edgar F. “Smiles” Anders, 96 of La Grange, were held Monday, March 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn with Msgr. Stanley Petru officiating. Interment followed in the LaGrange City Cemetery. Mr. Anders was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Weimar, to Frank F. and Annie (Schilhab) Anders. He graduated from Weimar High School and later St. Edwards University in Austin. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and played professional baseball for four years. He then returned to school and graduated from the Danforth Pharmacy School in Ft. Worth. He married Lynette Stokes on June 15, 1939, in Bellville. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II in the South Pacific, New Caledonia, and New Guinea and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In 1946, he bought the Hermes Drug Store in La Grange and operated it until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 75 year member of the La Grange American Legion; founding member and past commander of the La Grange VFW Post No. 5254; a charter and past member of the La Grange Rotary Club; and a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was survived by his wife of 65 years, Lynette Anders of La Grange; one son, Michael E. “Mike” Anders of La Grange; one nephew, Bill Anders of the Orkas Islands; three nieces, Phyllis Reinhardt of Houston, Jane Leonard of Rosenberg, and Marcia Stokes of Austin; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie (Schilhab) Anders; one sister, Hettie Anders; and one brother, Arthur Anders. Mr. Anders was a communications specialist in the United States Army during World War II. He entered the army on Dec. 21, 1942 and was honorable discharged on Dec. 31, 1945 serving his country for 35 months. He served overseas in France and Italy for one year, six months and ten days. He received the American Theater Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal, E.A.M.E. Campaign medal with four bronze stars, and the World War II Victory medal. Anders, Emil RobertEmil Anders Funeral Services Held Dec. 23Emil Robert Anders died Sunday, Dec. 21, at the age of 84 at St. Luke's Hospital Funeral services were held at St. Michael Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23. Interment followed at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. A rosary was held Monday, Dec. 22 at Hubbard Funeral Home. He was born in Fayette County on Oct. 28, 1919 to Joseph Vincent and Marry Sassin Anders. Emil was a life long resident of the Weimar area. He retired from M-G Inc. after 39 years. He was a volunteer for the Weimar Fire Department and was a member of the fire pumper team for many years. He was also a member of St. Michael Church. His greatest joy of life was spending time at "the farm" in Osage and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren and especially his great-granddaughters who brought so much pleasure to his life. He will be greatly missed. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Anders; two daughters, Betty Dawkins of Houston and Marilyn Hinze of Weimar,; one son,, Mark Anders and wife Lou of Arlington; grandchildren, Rodney and Kristy Hinze, Kevin (Boomer) Hinze and Lacey Hinze, Lisa Dawkins, Wade and Hailey Anders; and great-granddaughters, Chasidy, Leah and Mikayla. Anders, FerdinandAnother Good Citizen Claimed by DeathAgain has Death invaded the ranks of our citizenship and taken therefrom a splendid, good man. Sunday morning, after an illness extending over many weeks, the soul of that good man and citizen of our community for so many years, Mr. Ferdinand Anders, Sr., was wafted to that heavenly home above, there to meet and greet his loved ones gone on before. Many hearts were saddened over his death, for he had lived among us for so long a time and his kindly greeting will be greatly missed. The funeral took place at St. Michael's Cemetery Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, after religious services were held at the church by his late pastor, Rev. Jos. Szymanski. A large crowd was in attendance at the funeral and sorrow was written on every face. Truly a good man had passed from among us. Active pall bearers at the funeral were as follows; Messrs. Henry J. Laas, Edmund Barta, Frank Wick, Anton Beck, Jr., Emil Gold and Henry Seifert. Ferdinand Anders was born in Moravia April 15, 1846, and was 83 years, 7 months and 2 days of age at the time of his death. He came to this country in 1870, landing at Galveston. From that point he came by train as far as Columbus, with his three brothers. From Columbus the four brothers walked to High Hill. Mr.Anders, subject of this sketch, first settled in Flatonia, where he lived for several years. It was while residing there that he was united in marriage. The family moved from Flatonia to Dubina, and about thirty-three years ago they again made another change and located at Weimar, where they resided ever since. Mr. Andes was a carpenter by trade and was an active worker up to a short time ago, when age and ill health began to tell upon him and he gave up his calling of a lifetime. Mr. Anders was married twice and to these two unions seven children were born, of whom five survive, as follows: Mr. F. F. Anders, Mrs. Lena Hohensee, Mrs. A. J. Sciba,Misses Emelie and Julia Anders; also one brother, Mr. Joe Anders of Dubina section. One son, Ferdinand, Jr., and the oldest son of the family are dead, the latter having died in infancy, while Ferdinand died a few years ago. Mr. Anders was a quiet, unobtrusive citizen, well and favorably regarded by all who knew him, a dependable man, a kind father, neighbor and friend, and his death is deeply and sincerely deplored by a large circle of friends throughout this section, where he had lived so long. Anders, Ferdinand Jr.Ferd. Anders, Jr., Succumbs; Long IllnessMr. Ferd. Anders, Jr., a popular and highly respected resident of our city for many years, aged about 40 years, died at the family residence Saturday night, after an illness of about four months, from typhoid fever and its complications. The funeral took place at St. Michael’s Cemetery Monday morning, Rev. Jos. Szymanski officiating in an impressive service. The local fire department, of which Mr. Anders had long been a faithful and consistent member, attended the funeral in a body. Mr. Anders was a man highly esteemed by all. Honest, upright, of engaging personality, friendly to one and all, he was welcomed in and at every gathering of his fellow-men. Some four months ago he was taken ill with typhoid fever, and although he put up a hard fight for life, and everything possible was done for his welfare by family, physicians and nurses, the Master called him and he responded to the call. His death is deeply and sincerely deplored by our entire citizenship, who feel that the community has lost a good and valued man. Mr. Anders is survived by his widow, several children, his aged father, Ferd. Anders, Sr., two sisters, Mrs. A. J. Sciba of San Antonio and Miss Millie Anders, this city, one brother, F. F. Anders, Frank F.Frank F. Anders Succumbs at 87Death came early Sunday morning, Sept. 29, to 87-year-old Frank F. Anders, president emeritus of Hill Bank & Trust Co., at Sievers Rest Home, Gonzales where he had been a patient the past three months. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Henry O. Rolf officiated. Pallbearers were Hollis Massey, Henry Brasher, H. Ed Rabel, John Hajovsky, J. W. Stokes and John Kasper, Sr. Mr. Anders ended more than 40 years active service in the bank January 30, 1959, becoming president emeritus, when ill health forced his retirement from the presidency. He started with the bank as an assistant cashier in 1918, was made vice-president in 1942, and on January 1, 1952, was named president. Born Aug. 5, 1876, at Dubina, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Anders, he moved to Weimar at the age of 19, and married Miss Annie Schilhab here January 5, 1900. Mrs. Anders died August 15, 1952. Mr. Anders was a 43-year member of the Knights of Columbus, which he had served as grand knight several times in the past; a member of the St. Joseph’s Society; a 66-year member of the Hermann Sons Lodge; and an honorary fireman. Members of these organizations paid him tribute in the rosaries and the funeral services. Surviving him are a daughter, Miss Hettie Anders of Weimar; two sons, Comdr. Arthur F. Anders, Frank H.Frank H. Anders Funeral Services Held July 20Frank H. Anders Jr., 84, of Baytown, formerly of Weimar died July 16 in Baytown. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 20 at St. Michael Church with Father John Bily and Msgr. Arnold Anders officiating. Interment followed in the St. Michael Cemetery. Frank was born on May 20, 1921 in Dubina to Frank J. Sr. and Annie (Guenther) Anders. He attended St. Edwards School in Dubina. Frank married Leona F. (Christen) Anders on Nov. 19, 1940 at St. Michael Church. Mr. Anders lived 83 years in the Weimar area and for the past 11 months was living in Baytown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank was a dairy farmer and also worked for Texas Highway Department Maintenance in Columbus. Mr. Anders enjoyed playing dominos, loved polka music and was very lucky at winning cake walks. He is survived by his wife, Leona of 64 years; sons, Patrick J. Anders and Michael J. Anders, both of Baytown; daughters, Rita Kasper of Shiner and Daria Emmel of Weimar. He is also survived by his brothers, Msgr. Arnold A. Anders of Corpus Christi and John L Anders Sr. of Rosenberg; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas W. Anders; brother, Arthur; sisters, Leona Garza and Margaret Hartensteiner. Pallbearers were Patrick J. Anders, Freddie J. Jr.Freddie J. Anders Jr., 60, of Wharton, died Tuesday, October 6, 1987, in a Houston hospital, following a brief illness. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 7, at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, October 9, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, with the Rev. Joe Koebel officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Born May 8, 1927 in Weimar, Mr. Anders had lived in Wharton for the past 28 years. He was a produce department employee of the H.E.B. Food Store in Wharton. Mr. Anders served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former post commander of American Legion Post 87 in Wharton and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also has been a retired member of the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Joseph and Bertha Kasper Anders. Surviving are his wife, Viola Kosler Anders of Wharton; three daughters: Myra Aprea, Iris Petrash and Gloria Barbee, all of Wharton; two sons, James Anders and David Anders, both of Wharton; two brothers, Eddie F. Military graveside services followed at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Wharton American Legion Post 87. Anders died Oct. 6 in a Houston hospital after a brief illness. Born May 8, 1927, in Weimar, he was a son of Ferdinand Joseph Sr. and Bertha (Kasper) Anders. He married Viola Kosler at Weimar on Aug. 17, 1948. A World War II Army veteran, Anders had lived at Wharton 28 years. He was commander of the American Legion post there, a member of the VFW, and a retired volunteer fireman. A former employee of Oshman Dry Goods Store, he was a sales agent for American National Insurance Co., a former employee of Sangs Supermarket, and for the past seven years was employed with the H.E.B. Produce Dept. in Wharton. Surviving are his wife, Viola Anders of Wharton; daughters and sons-in-law, Myna and Al Aprea, Iris and Eddie J. (Bubba) Petrash, and Gloria and Milton Barbee, all of Wharton; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Chris Anders and David and Sharon Anders, of Wharton; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Eddie F. Burial was in the parish cemetery. She died April 29 at the Colorado-Fayette Medical Center. Mrs. Anders was born December 20, 1921 at Weimar to Vincent and Annie (Bayer) Kuchar. On June 28, 1948 she married Eddie J. Anders of Weimar. She was a member of the K.J.Z.T. and the St. Michael Catholic Church. Her husband survives her, along with four children, Garrett Anders of Weimar, Leonard Anders of Houston, Allan Anders of Katy, and Darlene Bludau of Hallettsville; one sister, Mildred Santoro of Dallas and one brother, John Kuchar of Weimar; and seven grandchildren. Anders, Hettie A.Hettie Anders, Longtime city Clerk, BuriedFuneral services for Miss Hettie Anders, 76, who had managed the City's business office the past 32 years, were held Wednesday, April 9, from Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael's Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Charles B. Carolan officiated. Miss Anders died Monday, April 7, at Youens Memorial Hospital, of cancer. A lifelong resident of Weimar, she was born October 16, 1896, the daughter of Frank F. and Annie Schilhab Anders. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Anders, Joseph V.Final Rites for Joseph V. Anders, 75, Held MondayFuneral services for Joseph V. Anders, 75-year-old retired farmer, were held Monday morning, March 25, at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Henry Rolf officiated. Mr. Anders had been under treatment for a heart condition for about two years, but his death at 7:30 p.m. Friday at his home came unexpectedly. He was a lifelong resident of this area. Born Nov. 21, 1887, at Dubina, he was a son of Vincent and Frances Kainer Anders. He married Miss Mary Sassin at Dubina on Nov. 7, 1911, and they settled first at Ammannsville, later moving to the Holman section, then near Weimar. For the past five years Mr. Anders and his wife have lived with their son, Eugene, about a mile east of town. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church and the KJT lodge. On Saturday, the day after his death, he was to have been presented his 50-year KJT membership pin. Mr. Anders is survived by his wife; five sons, Eddie J., Emil, Steve and Eugene of Weimar and Frank of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Martha) Dusek of LaGrange, Mrs. Alfred (Vlasta) Beyer of Weimar and Mrs. Daniel (Margaret) Lev of Rosenberg; 15 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Otto (Frances) Koenig and Mrs. John (Angelina) Jokel of Vernon, Mrs. Edward (Sophie) Janecka of Rosenberg and Mrs. Albina Beyer of Wharton; and two brothers, Louis of Dubina and Emil of Fairchild. Anders, JulieFinal Rites for Miss Julie Anders, 78, Held WednesdayFuneral services for Miss Julie Anders, 78, who died in her sleep early Monday morning at San Jacinto Hotel, were held Wednesday morning, Jan. 22, at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Rev. John Bily officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Miss Anders had returned to Weimar last spring to make her home at the hotel, after living in San Antonio about 25 years. She was born Oct. 27, 1885, at Dubina, the daughter of Fred and Julia Anders, and lived there until moving to San Antonio. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at San Antonio. Her sister, with whom she had lived in San Antonio, Mrs. Carrie Sciba, now of Kerrville, is her only immediate survivor. Anders, Julia (Klesel)Death of An Estimable Lady:Mrs. Ferd. Anders, Sr. Passes Away After Many Years IllnessThe sad news was wafted over the city early Monday morning that Mrs. Julia Anders, beloved wife of Mr. Ferd. Anders, Sr., was dead. Her death occurred at the family home in the northern part of town about 8 o’clock, after an illness extending over a period of about five years, during all of which time she was practically an invalid. Despite her long period of suffering, she bore up cheerfully and was heard to utter but few complaints. The funeral took place Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Revs. Szymanski of this city, Lenzen of Schulenburg and Anders of Cistern officiating in the presence of a large crowd of sympathizing relatives and friends. [Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery] Mrs. Anders was born in Germany on the 20th of October, 1853, and would have been 73 years old on the day following her death. At the age of 26 she came to America, settling at High Hill, where she soon afterward was united in marriage to Mr. Anders. The couple lived at High Hill two years, then moved to the Dubina section. Afterward they moved to Weimar, where they have resided for the past thirty-one years. She is survived by her aged husband, three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Sciba of Schulenburg, Misses Millie and Julia Anders of this city, and two sons, Messrs. Frank F. Anders and Ferd. Anders, Jr., of this city, besides several grandchildren. Mrs. Anders was always a kindly, good woman, a devoted wife and mother, one who loved to do for her friends and neighbors, and ever possessed the respect and esteem of all who knew her. Her death has caused many pangs of sorrow to pervade the hearts of our people. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her bereaved ones. The Weimar Mercury, October 22, 1926
Anders, LudmillaLast Rites for Miss Lud. Anders, 62, Held SaturdayFuneral services for Miss Ludmilla Anders, 62, were held Saturday, February 7, at Hubbard Funeral Home here, continuing at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Dubina, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Arnold Anders, her nephew, was celebrant of the Solemn High Mass. Rev. Thomas Flanagan was deacon and Rev. Thomas O’Callaghan sub-deacon. Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. F. Drozd gave the sermon, and Rev. John Anders, Miss Anders’ brother, conducted the graveside services. Miss Anders was born April 20, 1896, in Dubina, a daughter of the late Joe and Mary Anders. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church, and a member of the KJZT Society. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 38 years. The past six years she had been employed at Huth Memorial Hospital in Yoakum, where she died Feb. 5 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by three sisters, Sister Mary Firmina, a member of the Lady of the Lake Covent, now stationed in Chapell Hill, Mrs. Mary Kloesel of Baytown, and Miss Theresa Anders of Dubina; three brothers, Rev. John Anders of Cistern, Edward of Dubina and Joe of Schulenburg. A number of nieces and nephews also survive, including Rev. Arnold Anders and Sister M. Ida of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Anton in 1952 and Frank in 1958. Pallbearers were Theo and Ed Kloesel of Baytown, V. J. (Mary) Anders, 82, were held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. O. B. Kahlich officiated. Mrs. Anders died Sept. 24 after two weeks in Youens Memorial Hospital for treatment of a heart condition. A lifelong resident of this area, she was born July 15, 1890, at Dubina, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Sassin. She was married to Mr. Anders Nov. 7, 1911, and they settled first at Ammannsville, later moving to the Holman area and then near Weimar. Mr. Anders died in 1963. For the past 14 years Mrs. Anders has lived with her son Eugene, about a mile east of Weimar. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Survivors are four sons, Eddie J., Emil, Steve and Eugene, all of Weimar; three daughters, Mrs. Pete Martha Dusek and Mrs. Alfred (Vlasta) Bayer of Weimar and Mrs. Daniel (Margie) Lev of Rosenberg; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. John Honc of Wharton; and two brothers, Frank Sassin of Sweet Home and Theophil Sassin of Weimar. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were one son, Frank; a sister, Mrs. Albert Mican; and two brothers, Pete and Adolf Sassin. Soloist was Nancy Rosenauer performing “Amazing Grace,” “Be Not Afraid,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Here I Am Lord.” Dan Mueller gave the eulogy. She was born Feb. 10, 1917 in Swiss Alp, Fayette County, to Joseph and Aloysia Olsovsky Halata. She married Edwin F. Anders on Nov. 11, 1940 in Moravia at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She was a resident of this area for 59 years. Survivors include: her husband; daughters, Linda Radke and husband Al Wayne of Columbus, Mary Louise Mueller and husband Alvin of Weimar; sons, Edwin Joe Anders and wife Rita of Weimar, and Alan W. Anders and wife Sandra of Katy; a brother, Rev. Wm. Halata of Moravia; sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Bernice) Novak of Pearland and Mrs. Charles (Leona) Sooter of Los Angeles, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Halata and a sister Ollie Pohl. Anders, MillieMillie Anders, 80, Former Resident, Buried MondayFuneral services for Miss Millie Anders, 80, of San Antonio, formerly of here, were held Monday morning, June 26, at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Rev. Louis Fritz officiated. Grandnieces of Miss Anders played the organ and sang, and grandnephews served at the altar. Miss Anders who had lived in this area about 40 years before moving to San Antonio 23 years ago, died at 9:45 p.m.. Saturday in her home there. She had been ill about three years. Born May 22, 1881, at Schulenburg, she was a daughter of Julia and Ferdinand Anders Sr. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Antonio. Surviving her are one brother, Frank F. Anders of Weimar; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Sciba and Miss Julia Anders, both of San Antonio; nieces, Mrs. Paul (Laura) Biediger and Miss Florence Anders of San Antonio, and others. Anders, Steve E.Steve E. Anders Funeral Services Held Aug. 26Steve E. Anders, 81, of Weimar died August 23 at Oak Bend Medical Center. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 26 at St. Michael Church with Father John C. Bily officiating. Interment followed in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Steve was born Dec. 2, 1923 in Holman to Joe and Mary (Sassin) Anders. He married Leona M. Zappe on Feb. 4, 1951 in Hallettsville. Mr. Anders received a three-year Rifleman in Company “A” 358 infantry in World War II, Vet in Germany. He was also a member of St. Joseph. Steve was a resident of Weimar his whole life and enjoyed working at M-G Inc. He is survived by his wife Leona M. Anders of 53 years; sons, James Anders and wife Patsy of Weimar, Steven Anders and wife Cecilia of College Station, and David “Chili” Anders of Weimar. He is also survived by his siblings, Eddie Anders of Weimar, Eugene Anders of Weimar, Valasta Beyer of Sugarland, and Margaret Lev of Rosenburg; and six grandchildren, Pamela, Luke, Nick, Stephanie, Clint and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Jake and Kurt Anders; sister, Martha Dusek; and brothers, Frank Anders and Emil Anders. Anders, Wilhelmina (Seifert)Mrs. Minnie AndersMrs. Minnie Anders, wife of Ferdinand Anders, Jr., died at 5 o’clock Tuesday morning, at the family home a mile east of Weimar, after an illness of some three weeks, during which she suffered intensely. The funeral took place at St. Michael’s cemetery, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock, and was attended by a very large crowd of sympathizing relatives and friends. Rev. Jos. Szymanski, rector of St. Michael’s church, performed the touching funeral ceremony. Mrs. Anders was the daughter of Anton Seifert and wife, worthy residents of this city, and was reared to young womanhood in this city and immediate vicinity. About three years ago she was united in marriage to Ferd. Anders, Jr., the husband of her choice, and the union was a happy one. A heart-broken husband, little three-weeks old girl baby, father, mother, several sisters and brothers, survive her. Mrs. Anders was a quiet, earnest, good woman, a faithful, devoted wife, one of the best of neighbors and friends, and her death after such a long, lingering struggle and such an earnest desire as she expressed to live, has brought much sadness and gloom over this section among her large circle of friends, relatives and acquaintances.
