Graham, Colonel Edwin Smith - Family papers
Includes printed material and newsclippings dealing with the Malcolm Kintner Graham and E. C. Stovall families. Malcolm Kinter Graham is the son of Col. Edwin Smith Graham. E.C. Stovall's son, Norman Dunbar Stovall married Malcolm Kintner Graham's daughter, Louise Graham. Collection bulks (1932) with printed material including a booklet by M. K. Graham entitled "Continuous Prosperity." E. S. Graham came to Texas as an agent for Peters Colony and founded Graham, Texas, and the E. S. Graham Company. This company handled land sales, sheep raising, farming and coal mining interests and was managed by several generations of the Graham family.

Topics include oil exploration, social life and courtship, politics, West Point Military Academy, emigration from Texas, German Jews during the 1930s, and Graham and Young County, Tex. Diversified company established by E.S. Graham in 1870; primarily made land sales based on lands originally held by Texas Emigration and Land Company, but also had interests in sheep and cattle ranching, farming, and coal mining.

6 leaves - An otherwise blank copy book contains five and a half handwritten papers describing Rev. White's travels in Texas during the summer of 1877. The narrative begins at Waco, continues to Graham City via covered wagon. Weatherford, Breckenridge, Hog Island (scene of 1st Presbyterian camp meeting in Texas), and the West Fork of the Trinity are among the other locales mentioned. Reverend White (name otherwise unknown) was an itinerant Presbyterian minister from Virginia who held camp meetings in Texas in the summer of 1877.

Includes correspondence, Presbyterian Church files, legal material and financial material. Collection bulks with financial records of the J. E. Morrison Company, noting purchases by the company and also the purchases made by customers. The Presbyterian Church materials deal with the construction of the church building and include blueprints for the organ, elevator, and seating arrangements. Retail chain. Founded in 1881 by early Graham, Texas, resident John E. Morrison, and incorporated in 1907. The company dealt in dry goods, groceries, furniture, undertaking, hardware, and implements. In addition to the store in Graham, there were branch stores in the Texas towns of Loving, Newcastle, Throckmorton and Olney. John E. Morrison was also founder of the Graham First Presbyterian Church.

Morrison and his wife, Georgie Garrett Morrison, and their daughter, Annie Lucile Morrison Harbison. Adger A. Morrison's father, John E. Morrison, was founder of the Graham First Presbyterian Church.

One scrapbook holds a small postage stamp collection. Legal and financial materials concern land in Hill County, Texas. Also includes a family Bible, a notebook containing a few pages of reminiscenses and microfilm of scrapbook material concerning the 1913 graduating class of Honey Grove, Texas; Assistant postmaster. Born in 1895 in Honey Grove, Texas. After graduating from high school in 1913, he attended Eastman Business College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Served as assistant postmaster of Graham, Texas from 1921-1957. Married Laulette Morris in 1922. Mrs. Hockaday was raised in Hubbard, Texas, and attended Baylor University. They had one son, John Benton Hockaday.

There are also family photographs and two letters dating to the 1830s. John E. Morrison and his family operated the J. E. Morrison Company in Graham, Texas. Established in 1881 and incorporated in 1907, the company dealt in dry goods, groceries, furniture, undertaking, hardware and farm implements. The family also operated stores in Newcastle and Loving, Texas. Family members included Morrison, his son Adgar A. Morrison and his grandaughter Annie Lucile Morrison Harbison.

Daughter of Benjamin Franklin Reynolds and Florence Rebecca Matthews. Grew up in or near Throckmorton, Texas, and married W. Clark Wilkinson of Young County, Texas, September 5, 1904. Taught school around Throckmorton, Texas, for three years.

Of particular interest are newsclippings which include obituaries of early settlers, personal accounts of early settlers, and historical information on Young County, Texas, and its prominent residents. Mill owner. Donnell moved to Young County, Texas in 1876 and eventually established the first flour mill west of Fort Worth, Texas, on the Clear Fork of the Brazos river.
