I, John H. Cochran, an assistant to the marshal, do solemly swear (or affirm) that this is a true
return of the mortality bill of my sub-division, made according to the tenor of my oath office, to the
best of my knowledge.
John H. Cochran Ass't. Marshal
No. of white male males - 11
No. of white females - 7
No. of black females - 1
Total number of deaths - 19
Remarks: Major Robert Simpson Neighbors was killed in Belknap last September;
but I know not his place of birth nor age. Perhaps it will be given
by his wife, who lives in San Antonio.
No disease has raged in this section.
It has been and is a brutal portion.
Today for farming, soils middling in rather mountainous.
Land Rock is Limestone most common.
